INFORMATION ON FINGERPRINTING SERVICES
The High Commission wishes to advise that the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Western Australian Police have ceased providing fingerprinting services to members of the public in Western Australia and the ACT.
Members of the public who are required to obtain fingerprints for the purposes of issuing criminal records checks or other approvals should be aware that alternative arrangements with private companies offering fingerprinting services can be negotiated directly without the need for legalisation. Alternatively, clients who obtain fingerprints from private companies may have these documents notarised by an Australian notary public and then present them to an Australian Passport Office for legalisation.
This implies that the National Police Checks offered by the Commonwealth of Australia can be completed without the submission of fingerprints.
The Nigerian High Commission Canberra also will not facilitate fingerprinting services, henceforth. Interested applicants should forward their request to the Nigeria Police in Nigeria.
